Andy Yu is a practicing architect from Australia who works as a project leader at the Sou Fujimoto’s practice.
Sou Fujimoto Architects is an office established in 2000 in Tokyo, operating within the fields of architecture, urbanism and research for innovation. Their characteristic feature is the combination of simplicity and avant-garde that leads to persistent improvements of realizations. For Japanese architects, the design process is a way of exploring the world and humanity. In this manner, the practice became a platform of experimenting on the philosophy of architecture.
Andy Yu’s career is closely related to Asia and Europe. He was frequently changing the place of his residence, living in Japan, Taipei, France and the Netherlands. Thanks to this background, he harvested his position as an outsider to benefit the mixed cultural view on architecture. In 2016, he joined the Sou Fujimoto’s team as a projects director, focusing on helping to bring Fujimoto's unique architecture into the European context through business development and architecture competitions.
